Game 4 in the virtual playoff is coming up, but first here are some reality bites:
The Big 12 released all their schedules yesterday including West Virginia, see them all here:
Upon West Virginia leaving the Big East early, there has been speculation that Syracuse and Pitt might also attempt to leave for the ACC before the previously announced 2014 season. Syracuse and Pitt officials talk about how they will not challenge the Big East’s rules; but would like to be out by 2013 here: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/news?slug=ap-bigeast-pittandsyracuse
Yesterday, the Pac 12 announced that there will be no more neutral site football games like last year’s match between Oregon and LSU in Cowboy stadium. There are permissible exceptions that include the Pac 12 getting TV rights to the game, or the match-ups being an 'away' game like next year’s contest between USC and Syracuse at Met Life Stadium. Read about it more here: http://www.blocku.com/2012/2/6/2776324/pac-12-prohibits-neutral-site-games
Other news and notes; Bill Byrne (Texas A&M AD) is rumored to be fired soon. Byrne was against the Aggies move to the SEC and ultimately was left out of the decision. Craig Thompson (MWC Commissioner) is applying for the AD job at the University of Minnesota. Karl Benson (WAC Commissioner) is set to be the new Commissioner of the Sun Belt Conference where the current commissioner has retired. Britton Banowsky (CUSA Commissioner) is rumored to be the lead candidate as the next Big 12 Commissioner. With Benson leaving the WAC, we may be witnessing the death of a conference. R.I.P WAC.
Now on to our playoff.
